Dear Railean Distillery, My wife and I recently picked up a bottle of the Railean Reserve XO on a rum-hunting expedition at Specs Liquors in Austin. We were intrigued by this new Texas-distilled rum and pleased to see a Galveston Bay/Jean Lafitte connection (being old freebooters ourselves) and we passed on other rums to give yours a try. I am very happy to report that we both love the Reserve XO. It's smooth, rich, and ideal for sipping or mixing into premium cocktails, grog, and other buccaneer favorites. A definite winner; this rum will go into our regular rotation. It holds its own against old favorites such as Sailor Jerry's, Cruzan's Black Strap Naval Rum, and Gosling's Black Seal. I'm already reminding myself to go stock up on spare bottles. I wish you the best of luck with your new distillery and hope you are back in production soon, if not already. Hey, did you guys survive the hurricane? I certainly hope you came through it unfazed. We have been through (4) bottles of your rum since my tour of the distillery. I would like to come out and check out your fantastic rum. We had a cocktail party last week and one of my friends brought out a couple of your rums. We made a slew of Dark and Stormys with some pure Mai Tais which were all a hit; by the end the night we had two empty bottles of Railean Rum and no one touched any of the vodkas.

I must admit I had lowto moderate expectations, from all my years of drinking the Caribbean varieties I suppose; but those expectations were blown out of the water once I took my first sip of Railean & cola with a twist of lime. I have tasted nothing like it before and have a new favorite indeed!

I tasted my wait staff on the Railean Rum and 7 out of 8 chose the Railean over Bacardi.  Currently Bacardi is our well rum but I'm working on switching over to Railean Rum.

We wondered if it was the rum that was so great, or the punch.  The guys thought it would be interesting to taste the rum by itself.  We did at the party and the guys were VERY IMPRESSED!!!!!

I was a Captain Morgan drinker but I am switching to Railean Rum.  I went to the liquor store and bought all the Railean Rum they had on the shelf.  Don’t change a thing…
